Filament for Cookie Cutters

Posted by Robert Brown on

Now that you've got you cookie cutter stl file what material should you print it with? This is an easy question, PLA filament.

PLA filament is overall considered food safe, some brands of PLA have even gotten FDA approval for being food safe. Of course you still have to be careful since the 3D printing process will leave ridges in the print. PLA is made from plant based materials and is biodegradable. PLA is the easiest material to print as it can be printed at lower extruder and bed temperatures. Typical PLA extruder temperatures are listed as 180 to 230 degrees Celsius.

Our preferred brand of PLA is Prusament followed by Hatchbox.

MatterHackers has a great article about printing with PLA filament. https://www.matterhackers.com/articles/how-to-succeed-when-printing-in-pla?rcode=PPCADS&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmpb0BRCBARIsAG7y4zaVFGTXaqohLDbwonkxRYnOsxit6MA9ZgRwukqAvzxbjvBIbDWeVFUaAqGuEALw_wcB
